Nearly 20 years ago, the Krevatas family worked with the Town of Hempstead to install the first “Autistic Child Area” sign on Long Island. In a recent post, Town of Hempstead Supervisor, John Ferretti, reflected on this milestone and celebrated the installation of a new “Autistic Person Area” sign in Franklin Square — an important step in raising awareness and creating safer neighborhoods for individuals on the Autism Spectrum.
“Nearly 20 years ago, the Krevatas family reached out to the Town of Hempstead to install an ‘Autistic Child Area’ sign on their block... Today, the Krevatas twins are all grown up! These signs serve an important purpose of creating a safer, more mindful environment for residents living with autism and their loved ones.”
— John Ferretti, Town of Hempstead Supervisor
