Kulanu Middle & High School Programs

Kulanu Academy is a specialized school serving a diverse student body of individuals with special needs, primarily between the ages of 11 and 21. Guided by its mission, “All of Us,” the academy is dedicated to supporting every student, strength, and ability through a highly individualized approach to education. Located in Cedarhurst, NY, Kulanu Academy proudly serves families across New York City and Long Island, with thoughtfully structured class sizes and student-to-staff ratios ranging from 6:1:1 to 12:1:1 to meet varying needs.

The Academy’s Middle and High School Programs focus on helping students build academic, social, vocational, and life skills while preparing for meaningful futures beyond the classroom. Through individualized learning “tracks,” students are able to pursue pathways aligned with their unique strengths and goals, including academics, vocational readiness, independent living, and community integration.

Dina Rosenberg, MA, BCBA, LBA Chief Program Officer

Dina Rosenberg is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Special Education Teacher with more than 25 years of experience in special education. Since joining Kulanu Academy in 2004, she has served in a variety of leadership roles, including Head of Schools, and currently serves as Chief Program Officer overseeing Kulanu’s Educational, OPWDD, and ACCES-VR divisions. Dina specializes in behavior management, faculty training, program development, and supporting individualized educational planning for students and families.

Rabbi Elisha Hus- School Principal

 Rabbi Elisha Hus serves as School Principal at Kulanu Academy. He brings more than a decade of educational experience, with expertise in curriculum development and instructional technology. 


Prior to joining Kulanu, Rabbi Hus served in educational leadership roles at Manhattan Day School and as Director of School Services at Hidden Sparks. Known for his warm and approachable leadership style, Rabbi Hus is committed to strengthening educational excellence, supporting faculty growth, and creating a nurturing environment where students and families can thrive.

Johnhanna Otero- Head of Pupil Personnel

Johnhanna Otero serves as Head of Pupil Personnel at Kulanu Academy, where she has been a dedicated member of the leadership team since 2016. With more than 18 years of experience in both general and special education, Hanna has held roles in educational supervision, teacher mentorship, and academic leadership. In her role, she oversees family support services and works closely with parents and professionals to help ensure students receive the resources and advocacy they need to succeed. Hanna is deeply committed to fostering collaboration among educators, families, and support teams to help students reach their fullest potential.

Malkie Kamin

Director of Student Life 


 Malki Kamin serves as Director of Student Life at Kulanu and brings more than 30 years of experience in education. She holds master’s degrees in Special Education, School Administration, and Supervision, and has served in a variety of roles including classroom teacher, Supervisor of Special Education, and private practitioner. Throughout her career, Malki has remained dedicated to supporting students with diverse learning needs and helping each individual reach their fullest potential.
